Roof Repair and Replacement in Queens:I'll Tell You Which One
Roof repair and replacement are two jobs Hearth Roofing does on Queens homes and commercial buildings, and I'll tell you plainly which one your roof needs.
If a repair will hold, that's what I quote. Inspection and estimate are free.
Repair or replace? Four checks
It's a starting point I confirm on the roof, not a sales verdict.
- Roof age: past 20 years, patches buy less time.
- Leaks: one spot usually stays a repair.
- Damaged share: over 25% means full replacement.

| Compare | Repair Checked first |
Section or partial replacement | Full replacement |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it fixes | Leaks, failed flashing | Damage on one slope | Worn-out roofs, widespread water damage |
| When it fits | Any age, contained damage | Under a quarter damaged | Over 20 years, or past a quarter |
| The work | Patching, flashing repair | Removing one section, matching existing materials | Full tear-off, new underlayment, built to code |
| Buildings | Single-family, row houses, multi-family, mixed-use, commercial | Same, flat, low-slope or shingle | Same, plus new low-slope systems on flat roofs |
Flashing first: how I make an honest call
More Queens leaks start at flashing than anywhere else: chimney, step and roof-to-wall flashing. I check those first, then the underlayment and decking for water damage.
Flashing is my specialty, and I won't sell a new roof to cure a flashing leak. Usually repairing the failed flashing fixes it. If the deck has rotted, I say so.

Partial work, codes and handymen
Yes, when damage stays in one area and the decking under it is solid.
Yes, but matching existing materials is the catch. Older shingles fade, so I bring samples first.
Once more than a quarter of a roof is redone within a year, code generally requires the whole roof to meet current standards.
Not properly. It takes a full tear-off, new underlayment, re-flashing at every wall and chimney, code compliance and a warranty.
