Flashing Repairman for Queens Chimneys, Valleys and Parapets
Flashing repairman visits from Hearth Roofing put a roof flashing specialist on your roof to find the flashing letting water in, then repair it or reflash it. Chimney, step, valley, skylight or vent pipe boot, I fix whichever one failed. The estimate is free.
The flashing on your building that gives out first
I check these spots first on each kind of building.
| Building | Flashing that fails | Sign you see |
|---|---|---|
| Attached brick row house | Parapet wall flashing, chimney counter flashing | Water stains near the chimney |
| Single-family home | Skylight flashing, vent pipe boot | Damp attic |
| Two-family house | Step flashing laid shingle by shingle along the sidewall, valley flashing | Ceiling stains upstairs |
| Multi-family building | Chimney flashing, base flashing | Rusted metal |
| Mixed-use building | Base flashing on commercial membrane roofs, parapet flashing | Cracked caulk |
| Flat roof building | Base flashing at curbs, drip edge | Lifted or loose flashing |
When I reseal and when the old metal comes out
Sealant is an honest fix when the metal is sound and only the caulk has cracked, and I'll say so when that's all it needs. Rusted or loose metal gets cut out. Then I do a full flashing repair that replaces it.
New flashing matches what's already up there: copper, aluminum or galvanized steel. On chimneys and parapets, I set counter flashing into a cut mortar joint. Glued to the face of the brick, it pulls loose.

Three things happen once I'm on your roof
Every flashing repairman visit runs in this order.
-
Flashing inspection
I trace the water intrusion from the stain back to the exact flashing that failed.
-
Photos and a price
You see what failed and what it costs before any work starts.
-
Repair and water test
My crew fixes or reflashes it, then runs a hose over the spot to prove it's dry.
Short answers before you book
Yes. I reflash just the chimney, step and counter flashing included, and only lift the shingles right beside it.
Yes. That covers base flashing on TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen, plus the parapet wall flashing under the coping.
Reflashing should last as long as the roof around it. Resealing buys a few years before the sealant cracks again.
Yes to both: photos and a price at no charge. For a range first, see what leak repairs typically run.
